Sec. 20-87a. Definitions. Scope of practice. (a) The practice of nursing by a registered nurse is defined as the process of diagnosing human responses to actual or potential health problems, providing supportive and restorative care, health counseling and teaching, case finding and referral, collaborating in the implementation of the total health care regimen, and executing the medical regimen under the direction of a licensed physician, dentist or advanced practice registered nurse.

The Connecticut League for Nursing is hosting it’s 27th annual LPN Student Day at the Aqua Turf on Monday November 19, 2007 from 8:00AM – 2:30PM.
The NCLEX-PN (National Council Licensure EXamination-Practical Nurse) is a computer adaptive test of entry-level nursing competence. Passing the exam is required of candidates for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) by all continental US state .
The Licensed Practical Nurse plays an important role in a client’s plan of care. Though they are not allowed to develop the actual plan of care, they do make important contributions to it. The LPN’s contributions to the plan of care consists of the collection of data, implementing therapeutic nursing measures, performing therapeutic nursing interventions and using ethical decision making within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act to provide care.
